About

My name is Carrie and I am a wife, mother, mother-in-law, dog and cat lover.  I have been cooking for my wonderful husband for over 30 years and he has tasted many recipes I have made good and bad. We made a huge life change in 2005, moving from western Pennsylvania where we were both raised and lived all our lives.  We moved across country to Oregon and live a mountain life in the foothills of Mt Hood.  I have discovered that Oregon is full of wonderful farmers markets and fresh products all year long.  I am an avid canner and preserve as much as I can to have that fresh taste of Oregon throughout the year. Here are a few more tidbits about me.

* I am a county fair junkie and have been entering baked goods and my canning for over 30 years

* I have been collecting cookbooks since the day I was married and have over 550 and still collecting

* My most favorite place to find cookbooks are at estate sales

* I have two wonderful son’s, one awesome daughter-in-law, have I already told you I have a wonderful husband

* I have a cute Australian Shepherd named Sage and two cats, Sydney and Misty Blue

* My newest joy is my baby granddaughter Adalyn!

Over the Top Blueberry Muffins

Fresh from Oregon, blueberries have a long season and you can still find plenty at the local farmers markets and stores.  Here on the mountain (Mt Hood) I have been picking the blueberries from my bushes for about a week.  With the higher elevation we are about 4 weeks later than the farms in Portland, […]

Christmas Baking Countdown

Christmas Baking Countdown

It is only 16 days until Christmas and holiday baking and candy making has started in my house here in Oregon. I made my list and checked it twice for all my family’s favorite recipes.  Now that I live in the Pacific Northwest and have picked and enjoyed some of its local flavors I have […]

Spring in Finally here in Oregon

Spring in Finally here in Oregon

It has been a very rainy spring this year in Oregon, so with a peek of blue skies today I headed to the Beaverton Winter Market.  I live in the foothills of Mt Hood and this is a little over an hour drive for me but I just had to see what was Fresh from […]

Sweet & Spicy Roasted Corned Beef

What is Corned Beef?  Corned Beef is is a cut of meat, a brisket, that has been cured, or pickled, in a seasoned brine. Even though corned beef is associated with St. Patrick’s Day this is not an Irish dish.  The connection with St. Patrick’s Day is a Irish-American tradition. In the late 19th century […]
